| PUBLIC ACCESS FOR INDIVIDUALS Since July 2004 it has been possible for members of the public to involve the services of a barrister without having first engaged a solicitor. There are some types of work that barristers can not accept direct from members of the public, currently these are: immigration and asylum work; or family or criminal proceedings. You can find out more information on the Public Access scheme from the Bar Council's web site: Public Access - Information for Lay Clients |
